The Australian Ballet Company Secondment
When I first heard I was going to visit the Australian Ballet I jumped around the theatre at the Western Australian Academy for Performing Arts in the middle of a lighting plot for the closing season, nearly tripping down the stairs. I was so nervous to meet the Australian Ballet Company members and the staff, but they turned out to be the warmest and most welcoming group of dancers ever. Daily class was an amazing insight to the phenomenal technique of these talented individuals has, and it was such a real privilege to dance alongside some of my idols. Observing the highly productive Tim Harbour and his rehearsals for Filigree and Shadow (Part of the upcoming 20:21 season) there was such a thrill in the room. Every rehearsal, dancers would learn new material at rapid speeds and perform with such power, it was so inspiring. (I didn’t know humans could move that fast!) I feel very excited to create more work of my own now.
Many thanks to all at AICD for this amazing opportunity I had such a wonderful time.
